Three axes of autonomy, one backbone of supervision
Agents can act with increasing autonomy along independent axes. What holds all of it together, at every level, is human supervision: a gate that never becomes optional just because the system got more capable.
Scope. From answering a question to editing code to shipping a whole backlog — each step up needs harder gates, not more trust.
Duration. This is ANS's axis: hours of unattended work, made safe by deterministic gates, parks and a morning report — not by optimism.
Reach. One session, two sessions on one box, a signed mesh across servers. Each hop is a separate, deliberate step.
Where Agents Never Sleep fits
ANS is the overnight execution layer: one repository, one agent, a backlog of gated tickets and a morning report. It deliberately does not do coordination — when two local sessions need a trust layer, that's agentixmesh; when agents span machines, that's AgentsWeaver; when they need a shared language for work events, that's DCP. And when a fleet of unattended runs needs central governance — budget caps, model allow-lists, EU routing — that's the managed layer we're building on Tokonomix.
